Fr. Theophilus , of whom we know very little, was chosen to complete the term of Father Maximus in 1872.  We know little more than that he came from France and joined the Custody in 1870. He was  pastor of St. Patrick's Church, Buffalo, when he was called to St. Bonaventure. As with previous presidents, Fr. Theophilus became the pastor of the Allegany Church.  During his term as president we know that he did three main things : 1) He provided better accommodations for students. 2) He admitted Fr. John Baptist Roser. Fr. John Baptist Roser would go on to enter the order and become a faculty member at St. Bonaventure up until his death in 1936.  3) He also went on to start the first society on campus know as the Sodality of the Immaculate Conception.
